We are not here to offer you another weight loss class, you have probably tried enough of those already. What we are offering is a chance to focus on your mind-body journey toward self-awareness. This class will offer you an opportunity for personal growth without feeling as if you have entered into a room full of skinny models, or an olympic body-builders event. All students should be aware of their own physical limitations during a yoga class in order to remain safe. But here, students of size will be taught how to modify postures safely, or taught to avoid some postures all together, in order to achieve their own personal sense of bliss.

This will not be a gentle class. Chances are that you, as a woman with a Rubenesque body, have been relegated to to a gentle or restorative practice because there has never been a class designed specifically for you before. I agree that gentle and restorative classes have their place, but if you are looking to dramatically improve your health and physical stamina, then you need to attend a regular hatha yoga or vinyasa yoga class where you can learn to modify the poses for your body. When you challenge yourself, you will become stronger.

In this class, we will make use of many props in order to learn how to modify the postures safely. The more we learn, the further we will go! We will start out on our journey together with a more traditional hatha yoga class, but as I stated before, it will not be considered gentle or restorative. As we become more accustomed to the modifications we will be using throughout the class, then we will progress to a more flowing vinyasa style class that will challenge you physically, energetically and emotionally. But don’t worry, you will be well prepared for this transition. It will slowly, but steadily, evolve from week to week. I will encourage you and teach you how to “not give up on yourself!”

Just because you are a curvy girl, does not mean that you are incapable or lazy. So go out and get yourself one really cute yoga outfit that makes you feel comfortable, and a fabulous water bottle that makes you smile, and sign up for this class that will make you feel strong and fabulous!
