Ayurvedic Autumn for Summer at Breathing Time Yoga

AYURVEDIC PRACTICES FOR AUTUMN

with Susan Krantz

Fall and Winter in New England – the weather shifts to cold and dry - some of us
hibernate and catch up on projects, others take to the slopes and enjoy winter
sports. Either way our skin gets dry, the days grow shorter, our moods may
change, sleep may change due to shorter days, and digestion may be affected. We
experience cold/wind and maybe even get the flu or a raspy cough. So to make
winter love you, you've got to give yourself a little TLC and learn how to keep warm
internally as well as externally when the weather gets cold and windy.

Ayurveda means the knowledge of life. The Ayurvedic approach is to take care of
ourselves seasonally with nutrition, exercise, daily/seasonal routines and seasonal
practices. Through Ayurveda we look at the world through the lenses of the five
elements (earth, water, fire, air and ether), the 20 gunas (qualities such as hot/cold)
and 3 doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha).

Winter is the season to easily aggravate Vata – associated with the air and ether
elements. Vata governs all movements and activities in the body.

It is important to know how to keep yourself balanced in the winter months –
whether you are a hibernator or winter sports enthusiast.

In this workshop, Susan Krantz, Viniyoga Therapist and Ayurvedic Consultant will
show you how Ayurvedic and yoga practices can be implemented to keep you warm, and balanced this winter.

This class counts as 3 CEUs for Yoga Teachers.
